Biography.
She was born in Weingarten (Germany) in 1975 and she has Greek nationality.
Alexandra Oikonomou started her training with Glika Ghanoussi, Anna Prokopieva, attending also Master Class with the famous Russian Soprano Galina Pisarenko.
In Greece she received her Degree in Piano with High Honours from the Aristotèlio Conservatory of Trikala under the direction of Iolanda Zahu and Daniele Petralia; she also received her Degree in Counterpoint and Fugue.
After coming to Italy, she received her Bachelor Degree in Singing and she attended Master Classes with singers as Gabriella Ravazzi and Elio Battaglia.
After receiving her Master in Singing with "High Honors" from the “V. Bellini” Music University in Catania under the guidance of Filippo Piccolo, she continued her studies with the mezzo soprano GIOVANNA CANETTI in Milan attending also her Master Classes at the “Ticino Musica” International in Lugano (Switzerland). She is currently preparing her repertoire under the guidance of the great soprano FRANCESCA SCAINI.
She obtained several Prizes at National and International Competitions such as the Second Prize at the X.O.N. Competition of Athens, the First Prize at the Brahms Music Competition and the First Absolute Prize at the National Chamber Music Competition of Barcellona P.G. (Italy) as chamber duo with the pianist Daniele Petralia.
Her concert activity as soloist with Orchestra and as chamber music brought her to perform for several Associations in Italy and abroad: GREECE, Trikala (Cultural Center Auditorium), Athens (Pireas University); ITALY, Catania (Massimo Bellini Theatre, S.C.A.M., Univoc, Anfiteatro Association, etc.), Modica (Municipality Theatre), Ragusa (Donnafugata’s Theatre), Comiso (Municipality Theatre), Giarre, Augusta, Adrano (Bellini Theatre), Napoli; GERMANY, Kobern-Gondorf (Sommerclassics Music International Festival); CANADA, Ottawa (Dominion-Chalmers Hall, National Library Auditorium), etc.
Alexandra Oikonomou has been selected (among over 400 candidates) for the very prestigious International Festival “TAORMINA OPERA STARS” under the Artistic Direction of the famous Singer and Stage Director ENRICO STINCHELLI and she made her successful Concert Debut at the Taormina Ancient Greek Theater. She also attended Master Classes with Mr. Stinchelli.
Her repertoire as Soprano Lirico and the big versatility of her voice allows her to perform Operas of Mozart, Bellini, Donizetti, Mascagni, Puccini, Verdi and great Choral Works (Mozart Requiem, Rossini Stabat Mater, Petite Messe Solennelle, Pergolesi Stabat Mater, Verdi Requiem).
She also has a wide Vocal Chamber Music Repertoire (Schubert, Mozart, Schumann, Brahms, Rachmaninov, Bellini, Donizetti, Tosti, etc.) performed with the pianist Daniele Petralia.
She’s Artistic Director and Founding Member of the “Orchestra Filarmonica Auditorium S. Nicolò – Città di Mascalucia” Association and of the I Concerti di Primavera – Città di Mascalucia Music Festival in which she is responsible for the singing events.
